Venue Ideas You Haven't Thought Of

Venue Ideas You Haven't Thought Of

Looking out of the box for your small wedding or elopement venue

Choosing and envisioning where you are going to promise to spend the rest of your life with your partner can be a daunting task. Where do you even start? Included below are some the out of the box places that some of my couples have chosen to say I Do.

  1. Coffee Shop

Coffee shops, like Copper Rock in Appleton, often have extra rooms for small events. Chrissi and Joe had their first date at this exact coffee shop and knew they wanted to begin their next journey on their anniversary at the place that started it all.

2. Your Local Park

Often your park will have a space that you can rent out for events and allow you to have your ceremony outside or in the space rented. Tami and JeanClaud chose to have their wedding at High Cliff State Park and say their vows under one of the tall trees at the park.

3. Outdoors

Sometimes this takes a bit more planning and exploring, but you can choose a spot you found while hiking together to say your vows. Often this provides the most personal experience for eloping if you can find a spot that is off a hidden trail. Be sure to follow all guidelines for protecting local fauna and wildlife and practice LNT.

4. Family Property

Make your wedding day so much more personal by getting married on land that is owned by your family or has meaning to you. This can give you much more creative freedom and time to set up in advance.

5. AirBnb

AirBnb, Vrbo, and many of the other home rental sites offer great places and property to get ready or even have your whole wedding day. Be sure to check with your host if they will allow your event.

6. Greenhouse/Garden

Some botanical gardens or greenhouses allow short ceremonies on their grounds, like this one in Madison.

7. Boat

Boat weddings are a fun and adventurous way to enjoy the water and provide a unique experience for you and your guests. Some boats, like the Chief of Waupaca, provide a space below deck for everyone to hang out after the ceremony.
